SACORA'S PORTFOLIO: Change is in the Hair

I chose to photograph hair because I love styling hair and putting it in different hairstyles. I love feeling it, touching it, and it makes me feel happy. It brings out my happy side and the creative side of me. 

I try to show the joy and creativity of hair and hairstyles in my  photography. I try to show the details of the styles and textures of hair by showing side angles and front angles while zooming into the hair. I choose to shoot my photos in bright colours as well as black and white to highlight the  variety in the different styles of hair. I also tried using different lighting in my photos, to bring out the patterns in the hair.

I think the audience will enjoy my photos of hair like I do. I'm also hoping that they will be inspired to try some creative ideas and styles themselves.  My previous work is different from my current work because I usually don't try hard to take photos. I mostly take pictures at the school of things on the wall. I really tried to make this my best work by taking different photos of things.

I think my work fits in with photography because I'm taking photos of different people's hair. My work fits in with the history of art because it shows different hair types and  how beautiful hair is and how unique it is. Hair could tell you a lot about a person.. My inspiration for my images was always taking pictures of my hair; the before and after pictures. I love seeing other people's hair and I take pictures of it and try to do it on my own hair. 

Influences that relate to my work is my mom, because I have always admired her doing my  hair or doing other people's hair. When I was younger, like 5, I always wanted to learn how to braid hair. I was always fascinated by it and even brushed my dolls hair and took pictures of some of my mom's work. Then when she taught me how to braid hair I was so happy to learn how to do it. When I started to braid the ends of my hair and I got better each time, then Also started to take pictures of it. The technique in my work is lighting zooming into the hair. Getting the right angles from different sides. 

I hope that you learn something from the work like I did, it means alot to me. I hope you can see the different hair textures in my work. I hope to continue working on new styles and being able to create and add more to my collection.
