ARTIST STATEMENT: Kayla Leonce

My work captures candid moments and street photography. There’s something pure, raw, and innocent about candid and street photography, you don’t need a setup, backgrounds and props to make a perfect picture.

My vision is to show that photography lives in the moment even when you thinks it’s not, it’s all around us. You just have to look at normal objects with an artistic and creative mind but at the same time you have to wait for the right moment. Candid street photography can be difficult at times, because most people don’t like pictures taken and they can also ruin your shot by getting in the way.

I expect my audience to see the natural beauty of my photography. No edits, no Photoshop just a simple point and shoot. I like to be out there in the world exploring and taking real life photos instead of being in a studio making up a fake world. In my photos you will see how real life is and I want to inspire other photographers to do so.
