Artist Statement: Dragana Madzarac

The time at EYRAC  I learned what I like takings pictures of and what I’m good at taking pictures of. I love to take pictures of candid shots, either posed or not posed. I feel that there’s a raw meaning in the photo and natural beauty. I also love taking pictures of posed shots. For example a person standing far away and I tell them how to pose.

I started to like photography because of Selena Gomez. The way people take pictures of her and the way she poses in them. I always loved taking pictures of my friends like that. She is my inspiration in photography. I would also try to pose like her in my pictures because I find her really beautiful and want my photo to look like hers.

Growing up I didn’t like photography. When I was little I didn’t like people taking pictures of me or for that matter me taking pictures of them. I always thought to myself "it’s just a photo," why not stay in the moment instead of taking pictures. Photography didn’t hit until I was 12 years old, that’s when I bought my first camera and brought it to school to take pictures of me and my friends.

Now I’m more into photography, I’m always here and there taking pictures of whatever and whoever. I take pictures of myself posed, my friends posed, my dog, my parents. Now you will always see me with my phone taking pictures.
