Growing up I’ve always had a thing for nature but I’ve never
considered photography to capture my views on what I find to be art. I grew up in the city so nature wasn’t something
I was always surrounded by, so to be in a place where I can just relax and not
hear the noise pollution of the city is one of the best things to me which was
amazing. While in this class I learned
to appreciate the message/story through the view of the lens and it’s helped me
to admire the beauty of not only nature but photography in general and now it’s
a hobby that I really enjoy.
What I want to do with the camera is to show everyone that
nature is something that we need to appreciate a lot more and not take it for
granted. Personally I feel that as humans we are all naturally greedy
and we don’t realize how much damage we are actually causing to the earth. My goal is to hopefully open the eyes of many
and hopefully the beauty of nature will be something that is taken care of and
preserved for future generations to come.
Having a camera helps your imagination and changes your views
on everything around you because you wonder how you can make what you’re looking at
into a story with one shot. For me I try
to catch the rawness of nature because I feel that not enough people are aware
of the little things that are changing and if I had to choose where to go I would
choose a forest or nature trails because that’s what makes me feel at home and it’s
important to me.
People often focus on where they are. If you’re in the city you’re not often thinking about what’s going on in your local forest areas, local farms and even local zoos. Nature/wildlife is much bigger than just other life on earth and it’s much bigger than us humans. Without other life we would not have a place to stay and that would consult to human extinction which we don’t think about as much as we should and that’s a problem.
